100% recruitment of locals demanded by AGSU

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Nov 17 The All Guwahati Students Union (AGSU) has submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (M) Ashutosh Agnihotri demanding cent per cent recruitment of local boys and girls in all Government and private offices in the capital city.

The student body had been repeatedly insisting on cent per cent local recruitment and complaining against alleged indifference of the authorities towards resolving the grievances of the local educated unemployed youth.

The student body alleged that there has been a conspiracy against the eligible local youth to deprive them of jobs in the Central and semi central offices and warned that it would not tolerate such apathy towards the people of Assam.

Over the years, the eligible local youth have been deprived from jobs while youth from outside the State have been recruited for the posts. We will not be silent against such treatment meted out to the people of Assam, warned the student body.

It needs to be mentioned here that the student body has decided to conduct a survey in all the Government and private offices in connection to recruitment of local youth. This survey would be carried out in a phased manner. This survey will reflect the percentage of recruitment of local youth, said the student body, adding that it would launch a movement against those offices that are depriving the local youth.
