GUWAHATI, March 7 - Guwahati Development Department Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has admitted that 100 per cent solution to the perennial problem of artificial flood in Guwahati is not possible.
Replying to a query by Rupjyoti Kurmi during Question Hour, Sarma said although steps are being initiated to divert flow of water from various areas including Meghalaya, water coming from the hilly areas surrounding Guwahati is still a problem.
�We are trying to mitigate the problem to the best possible extent. Even some reputed foreign agencies who were given to study and find out a permanent solution, failed to come up with results that would make Guwahati totally free from artificial flood,� Sarma said. �We can at best provide 80 per cent solution to the problem till we receive any scientific solution,� he added.
