DIPHU, Oct 27 - The Karbi Students� Association, (Bijoy Bey faction) along with other social organisations has appealed to the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and Selection Committee for Grade-III and Grade-IV posts for Assam Hills Medical College and Research Institute for ensuring cent percent reservation of jobs for local Scheduled Tribe applicants domiciled in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong district.
Written examination for the posts were conducted at various centres spread across the two hill districts of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.
�In Sixth Schedule districts, all jobs should be reserved for local Scheduled Tribe candidates. I urge the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and the Selection Committee for favouring 100 percent jobs in Grade-III and Grade-IV in Assam Hills Medical College and Research Institute,� KSA general secretary Thangsing Timung said before the media.
The students� body appealed to all other aspiring candidates from other districts and belonging to other communities appearing for the written examination to leave the jobs for the local candidates.
�We are not against anyone. We do not seek to find fault in others, our concern is with the local Scheduled Tribe candidates. Considering the sentiments of the local Scheduled Tribe candidates, the Grade-III and Grade-IV posts of Assam Hills Medical College and Research Institute should be reserved for them. We appealed to the aspiring candidates from other districts not to intervene and leave it for the local youth,� Karbi Students� Union president Sarim Tokbi said.
