SILCHAR, Jan 29 � The district election office here received 83 nominations on Wednesday, the last day for filing of nominations for the Silchar Municipal Board polls to be held on February 9.
Among the candidates, 28 are from the BJP, while 21 are contesting with the Congress ticket. There are 29 independent candidates and five others in the fray as well.
According to election office sources, altogether 100 candidates have filed nomination papers for the civic polls.
