10-bedded Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre inaugurated at Silchar Civil Hospital

SILCHAR FEB 9: In a bid to address the increasing concerns over malnutrition found among children, the Cachar district administration has taken steps to optimise the capacity of Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) to 10 beds at the S. M. Dev Civil Hospital.

Cachar Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli inaugurated the extended services at the centre in the presence of Joint Director of Health Services Cachar Dr Sudip Jyoti Das, Dr. Jitendra Singh Hazari, in-charge Superintendent, S. M. Dev Civil Hospital, Dr S. K. Roy, paediatrician, in-charge Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre, doctors and staff of the hospital.

“It gladdens my heart to start this 10-bedded nutritional rehabilitation center facility. The team acted very quickly to develop it into this large facility within a week after receiving the necessary instructions. We hope that more and more Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) children get to use this facility to avail free nutritious meals and health care. The Social Welfare Department through the Anganwadi have been mobilised for the same,” the Deputy Commissioner said.

Joint Director of Health Services Cachar Dr Sudip Jyoti Das informed that the quantum of beds have been increased from three to 10 beds at the hospital.
