By The Assam Tribune

AGARTALA, May 8 - Ten Bangladesh nationals were arrested from Rajnagar village near the Indo-Bangladesh border today for entering the country without any valid documents, the police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided a house in the village and arrested the 10 Bangladeshi citizens on Friday morning.

State Director General of Police Rajiv Singh said that the arrested persons revealed during interrogation that they had entered the Indian territory in search of jobs about six or seven months back.

One of the arrested Bangladesh nationals, who was identified as Md Masud Rana, told reporters that after the lockdown was announced, they could not manage to get any jobs here. So they were trying to return to their country.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Border Security Force, Tripura Frontier, today claimed that border smuggling and infiltration had come down drastically during the lockdown period. PTI
