RANGIYA, Oct 23 � One person was killed and six others injured, three of them critically, when security forces here opened fire to control an angry mob of the All Bodoland Minority Students� Union who reportedly vandalized several shops on the Rangiya-Bhutan road at Rangiya Tiniali, this evening. The deceased was severely hurt in the police firing and he later succumed to his injuries, police sources said.
Mentionably, the incident is the fallout of another incident in the morning here, in which six members of the student body were physically assaulted by a person.
SK Roy, DC of Kamrup, rushed to the spot along with other senior police personnel and brought the situation under control with the help of para-military personnel.
