NAGAON, Aug 19 � One woman identified as Birchi Munda was brutally murdered on August 16 on suspicion of practicing witchcraft.
The incident occurred in Lengteng TE no 10 line under Samguri PS. She was 40.
Another seven persons were injured and they were admitted to Swahid Bhugeswari Phukanani Civil Hospital, Nagaon. Till the filing of this report, no persons were arrested in this connection. The injured were six women and one male and were identified as Sarika Purti , Parwati Sawra, Tara Sawra, Nayani Sawra, Lily Kheria, Padma Sawra and Seven Munda.
The villagers after meeting in a local temple last night decided to take action against them and accordingly brought them from their residence and attacked them. Police operation is on.
