Zoramthanga happy over Naga accord

AIZAWL, Aug 4 - Former Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, who brokered the peace deal between the Centre and the NSCN(IM), today expressed happiness over the signing of the historic Naga peace accord.

Zoramthanga told PTI that he was yet to learn the terms of the accord, but was happy that peace would prevail in the trouble-torn Nagaland.

�One NSCN(IM) �General� had conveyed the gratitude of the Naga people to me as I was involved in the peace deal and successful in breaking the impasse between the Centre and the outfit,� Zoramthanga said.

The former underground Mizo National Front leader, who was involved in a 20-year peace talks with the Centre culminating in the signing of the Mizo Accord in 1986, said he was very happy that the Centre and the NSCN(IM) could find an amicable solution to the vexed Naga problem. � PTI
