AIZAWL, May 18 - Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga on Friday praised journalists as architects, who play an important role in shaping public opinion and building the nation.

He was addressing a media workshop organised by State Information and Public Relations department for the journalists. Zoramthanga said that both print and electronic media play an important role not only in educating common masses, but also leading the country and the government on the right path.

Journalists are the architects of the nation and have very important role in educating the society, he said. He also said that the State Government would give priority to welfare of the scribes. The three-time Mizoram Chief Minister further called upon the people to change their mentality (mindset) to usher in development.

He said that Mizoram has been blessed by nature with good climate, fertile and vast forest land, good soil for cultivation and sufficient rainfall. These are potentials of Mizoram that need to be capitalised and converted into usable resources for the economic growth of the State, he said.

Urging the scribes to have healthy competition, Information and Public Relations Minister, Lalruatkima said, Journalists must be unbiased and stick to factual report. He appealed the scribes to extend help to the government in order to help the people to usher in development.
