Zero tolerance to narcotics smuggling

AGARTALA, July 26 - The border guards of India and Bangladesh have resolved to show zero tolerance towards border crimes including smuggling of narcotics and human trafficking, said Additional Director General of BGB Md Zahid Hasan.

�We have had a cordial discussion on various border issues during the four-day session and have resolved to work together for mutual benefits,� Hasan told reporters at Salbagan, headquarters of the BSF�s Tripura Frontier here, on Wednesday.

There is no terror threat perception from the Rohingya refugees of Myanmar who have taken shelter in the adjoining nations of South East Asia including Bangladesh and India, Hasan added. Inspector General (IG), BSF Tripura Frontier, LK Lohia said that a milestone had been achieved in containing narcotics smuggling.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has already vowed to make Tripura a drug addiction-free State and we have achieved phenomenal success in curbing smuggling of drags and narcotics,� he said.
