Zeliang takes oath as Nagaland CM

DIMAPUR, May 24 � TR Zeliang was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Nagaland at Durbar Hall at Raj Bhavan in Kohima today. Nagaland Governor Dr Ashwani Kumar administered the oath of office to Zeliang and 11 Cabinet Ministers.

The new Cabinet Ministers are Noke Konyak, G Kaito Aye, Kuzholuzo Nienu, Kiyanilie Peseyie, Yanthungo Patton, P Longon, Kipili Sangtam, Nuklutoshi, Dr Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, CL John and Dr Benjongliba.

The Governor had accepted the resignation of former Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on May 23 and appointed TR Zeliang as the Chief Minister and asked him to constitute his Council of Ministers.

After the swearing-in ceremony, the newly installed Chief Minister accompanied by other Ministers addressed a press conference at Chief Secretary�s Conference Hall at Civil Secretariat in Kohima.

The Chief Minister expressed his appreciation to former Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for coming back to help install the new government in the State. He assured that the new government will continue to do the good works which the former Chief Minister has left behind.

Zeliang assured that his government will bring development to all districts bridging the inequality mainly in infrastructure development.

The Chief Minister was of the view that investment should come up for which the people have to create conducive environment. He appealed to all concerned to work in unison for development of the State. He said the new government will constitute a State Investment Board to focus on investment in the State and also constitute a State Law Commission to help the government in replacing the out-dated laws.

He expressed hope that the new government at the Centre will extend all help to the people of Nagaland.

Stressing that a North East Region Economic Front should be set up for economic development of the region, he hoped that with Rio and the new government at the Centre recent policies like Look East Policy will be activated.
