JORHAT, Jan 21 - A youth identified as Manoj Ghosh (23) of Itakholi area of Garamur here, who was part of a picnic party, drowned in the Brahmaputra on Sunday at Spur No. 5 at Kokilamukh.
A police source said that Ghosh while reportedly going towards the Brahmaputra in the afternoon slipped and fell into the river and got drowned. The source stated that efforts were on to recover the body.
It may be mentioned here that on January 17 a youth identified as Rocky Bora (21) of Pokamura on the western outskirts here, reportedly committed suicide by jumping into the Brahmaputra at Nimatighat area under Nimatighat police outpost.
