The situation took a serious turn and in the scuffle, a 16-year-old boy, identified as Pom Das, was seriously injured. It is learnt that Projesh Das, a worker of the Digarkhal stone quarry, was arguing with his friend over the closure of the quarry when ASI Tarun Malakar of the Gumrah Outpost rushed towards him and thrashed him.

In protest against the police misbehaviour, the people of the area blocked the road around 10.30pm. Later, the police had to resort to firing in the air to disperse the crowd.
