Youth conclave held at city college

GUWAHATI, April 17 - An event, Youth Conclave 2017 Ideas and Beyond, was organised recently by B Borooah College on its campus, stated a press release today. There were altogether 11 competitive categories and some non-competitive categories.

The conclave was inaugurated by Babulal Sarma, Director of Higher Eduction at a meeting presided over by Dr SN Barman, Principal of the college. Dr Abhigyan Prasad, one of the coordinators of the conclave, delivered the welcome address and also explained in detail the overall conclave, including the events.

The conclave witnessed participation of students from different educational institutions and some even won first prizes. Abhijit Bora of Arya Vidyapeeth College was the best in single instrument playing and business idea. Probal Deka of State College of Music was the best in the self-composed song category, while Mriganka Deka of Cotton College was the best performer in mime. The team from Gauhati University comprising Sayantan Saikia and Sahbaz Ahmed was the winner in quiz. Abhra Das, a well-known quizmaster, conducted the quiz competition.

Prajnma, a souvenir published to commemorate the conclave, was released on the occasion by GM Srivastava, former DGP and former Security Adviser to the Chief Minister, Assam. The prizes and certificates were given away to the winners by Srivastava, his spouse Sudha Srivastava, the college Principal Dr Barman, Vice Principal Dr J Raychoudhury and the sponsors.

The conclave ended with a cultural nite, the highlight of which was a cameo by Zubeen Garg, an alumnus of the college. His wife Garima Saikia Garg and singer Mahalaxmi Aiyer were also felicitated on the occasion.
