IMPHAL, April 2 � The five-day World Youth Summit 2015 (WYS) India concluded at City Convention Centre here yesterday. The formal closing ceremony was attended by Manipur Minister for Public Health Engineering and Labour Irengbam Hemochandra Singh, chairman of World Youth Summit 2015 India N Rajmuhon Singh, President, Club 25 International Nepal Rajan Kandel and National Secretary, Club 25 Nigeria Kumari Hero Hossaina Magazi as presidium members.
Speaking at the function, Minister Hemochandra Singh said, �It is a matter of pride that World Youth Summit 2015 India was held successfully in Manipur. The time of youth days is the best time to explore one�s zenith.�
�Albert Einstein, Madame Curie, Graham Bell, among others became successful when they were at this age, youth is the time to explore one�s creativity and talent,� chairman Prof Rajmuhon Singh observed while addressing the closing function.
The Summit concluded with a special dinner sponsored by Manipur Government at Imphal Hotel here.
During the Summit, the delegates were taken to famed tourist spots in Manipur like Kangla Fort and Loktak Lake.
The technical session was held under the themes such as �Conservation of biodiversity for sustainable development�, �health, education, sports, culture and heritage�, �youth for social justice�, and �youth for hunger�.
The plenary and technical sessions were followed by a panel discussion on the above themes moderated by Prof N Mohendro.
Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh was the chief guest at the inaugural session of the Summit on March 29. The session was attended by delegates from foreign countries, besides other parts of the country. Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, WYS chairman Prof N Rajmuhon and co-chairman Dr WC Singh attended the summit as guests of honour while National programme specialist UNESCO New Delhi Prof Ram Boojh and Head geo hazard division, NIDM, Ministry of Home Affairs Prof Chandan Ghosh, participated as special guests.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Chief Minister Ibobi said, �Gathering of such large number of youths representing different countries sharing the sole idea and joining hand with each other to make the world a better place to live in is indeed a very encouraging step.�
The objective of the Summit was to strengthen a new global network of young people across the world and exchange ideas on youth led activities, especially on conservation of biodiversity, eradication of poverty, etc.
A �Global Youth Meet 2014�, one of the biggest youth event in India, first time in North East, was organised in Imphal in February last year.
