World Trade Fair drawing huge crowds

GUWAHATI, Sept 17 - The beautifully decorated World Trade Fair with special pavilions on Saalam Bollywood, foreign countries, local entrepreneurs and participants from other parts of the country, has been attracting huge crowds since its inauguration on September 7 at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre here.

The fair, organised by Joya Communications, supported by ITFAA, organiser of the International Guwahati Trade Fair, will continue till September 20.

The Saalam Bollywood pavilion displaying plaster of paris replicas of Bollywood superstars, has become a big attraction among visitors to the fair. A local artist Suraj Das has designed the replicas.

�We have heard about Madam Tussaud wax museums, but here we are actually getting an opportunity to stand with famous celebrities from Bollywood and take pictures� informed Lopamudra Saikia, a final year student of GIMT, Azara.

Meanwhile, the organisers have erected a majestic entry gate to the fair displaying huge replicas of Indian business tycoon Azim Premji, Mukesh Ambani, Ratan Tata and Lakshmi Mittal.

The international pavilion housing companies and products from Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan is also attracting huge numbers of visitors.

Varieties of food too have been drawing big crowds. The International Food Court serving dishes from Pakistan and rest of India has also attracted a sizeable number of food buffs.

On Sunday, the popular Goonj group will perform live on the fair premises.
