World Tourism Day on Sept 27

KAZIRANGA, Sept 24 - The Assam Tourism office at the Kaziranga National Park will celebrate the World Tourism Day on September 27. This year the theme of the World Tourism Day is �Tourism for All.�

According to Dani Gam, an official of Assam Tourism, the programme would start at 9 am with a cleanliness drive at the Bonani tourist complex. At 9.30 am, members of a cycling club will move to the Kaziranga Da Gaon, an upcoming model village for tourists.

Chef Atul Lahkar as the resource person will conduct a workshop on the preparation of ethnic delicacies at the community hall. This will be followed by a survey of the village area, which will be carried out by the students of Kaziranga College. The students will locate abiding spots of tourist interest and take photographs. The best photographer will receive an award, Gam added.

Pamthee Gohain, a writer who has been working on Buddhist tourism, will be the second resource person. Kaziranga DFO Suvasish Das will deliver a speech on �responsible tourism.� This will be followed by a talk on the criteria for a model village. It will be anchored by Tourism official Dani Gam. At the end of the programme, a food session will be held.
