World Sight Day walk tomorrow

By The Assam Tribune

GUWAHATI, Oct 11 - The largest eye donation campaign in the world is planned in connection with the World Sight Day on October 13 through an innovative programme called World Blind Walk organised in 55 locations across five countries by a Bangalore-based non-government initiative called Project Vision. About 5,000 visually challenged people will lead over 25,000 people in a blindfolded walk that will end with a pledge to donate eyes and help the cause of the visually challenged people, said a press release here.

Implementing this years World Sight Day theme in Guwahati, the International Association for the Prevention of Blindness is organising World Blind Walk in association with CII Young India (Gift an Organ Initiative) and Rotary Club and Art of Living. The walk will take place on the same day, in the same way in all locations.

The walk in Guwahati will take place on October 13 along the RG Baruah Road from 8 am to 10 am, the release added.

The Project Vision was started by Fr George Kannanthanam to promote awareness about eye donation.
