World Milk Day observed

GUWAHATI, June 5 � Sharp NGO celebrated the World Milk Day 2011 at South Point School, a press release said.

The aim was to promote milk as a fun drink among schoolchildren and consume other milk products. The programme was started with a welcome speech by Sharp NGO coordinator Bably Hazarika, followed by other guests.

An awareness session was conducted among the children on the importance of milk by Tina, nutritionist (Sharp NGO). To celebrate the Day, the NGO organised a drawing competition and the best three entries were awarded prizes.

�Our objective is to create awareness among schoolchildren about milk and its nutritional facts, which is important for growth,� said Shikha Kalita, project officer, Sharp.

Around 800 students were present in the programme, which was suported by Purabi Dairy. Shanti Lasham, deputy manager (Purabi Dairy), said they believe in milk for a healthy body and mind.

The programme concluded after a vote of thanks by Sanjiv Bora, State coordinator of the NGO.
