GUWAHATI, June 30 - Nilachal Education Welfare Society (NEWS), under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Govt of India, is organising its 10th annual summer workshop from July 7 to 14 at Nilachal Jatiya Vidyalaya, Kamakhya Temple Road, Nursery.
Some evergreen songs of Rasharaj Lakshminath Bezbaroa and Asom Kesori Ambikagiri Raichoudhury and the dances based on those special songs will be taught at the workshop. Social activist and singer Jugabrata Datta and veteran singer Dr Anima Chaudhury will impart training on the songs, while training on the dances will be imparted by dance director (Satriya dance) Guru Niren Kakoti. He will be assisted by young dance choreographer Shilpi Sikha Biswash.
The closing function of the workshop will held at the Dr Banikanta Kakoti Auditorium of the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Panjabari on July 14 for 5 pm to 8 pm. A drama based on Bezbaroa�s story Burhi Aair Sadhu will be the highlight of the closing ceremony. Everyone above 6 years of age can take part in the workshop.
