Workshop on how to do research held

GUWAHATI, May 25 - A workshop on research methodology with hands-on training, aimed at educating and updating PhD scholars, was held on Friday at Srimanta Sankardev University of Health Services, stated a press release issued here today.

Dr Arup Kumar Barman, Director of Medical Education, Assam, inaugurated the workshop where 32 PhD scholars, supervisors and faculty from allopathic medicine, dentistry, ayurvedic medicine, nursing, pharmacy and allied health services participated.

Prof (Dr) Anurag Srivastava, head of the Department of Surgery at AIIMS, New Delhi, was the chief guest.

SSUHS Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr ) Deepika Deka, in her inaugural speech, emphasised the need of research in the North East and encouraged every academician to come forward for research work. In view of the overwhelming response from participants, she assured that such workshops will be held regularly for encouraging research work.

Participants also said that they would be immensely benefited by the workshop, in doing research with academics.

Dr Swaroop Baruah, professor and head of medicine at GMCH, was the organising chairperson, while Dr Sthapana Sharma, assistant professor of community medicine at GMCH, was the organising secretary.

The organising team comprised Prof (Dr) Deepti Sarma, head of endocrinology at GMCH, Prof Suargajyoti Das of periodontics at RDC, Dr Sujit Bordhan, deputy registrar at SSUHS and Prof (Dr) Manasi Mandal, registrar (Academies) at SSUHS.
