GUWAHATI, Jan 17 � The students of Assam Engineering College (AEC) here have organised the first-ever national-level workshop on free and open source software (FOSS) on February 18-20 titled ABSOLVO.
The event is the first of its kind to be held in the North East and will be a part of the annual techno cultural festival Pyrokinesis of the college, a press release stated.
The event has been divided into three modules. The first module will be on the Linux administration and Open Office. The second module will be on CollabCAD � a 3D CAD/CAM software system for collaborative design and development of Industrial Designs. The third module, which requires prior skills in software programming, will be on mashup web technology. Mashups are an exciting genre of interactive Web applications that draw upon content retrieved from external data sources to create entirely new and innovative services.
