Workshop on feminist strategies held at Cherrapunji

GUWAHATI, Aug 30 - Foundation for Social Transformation � Enabling North East India (FST), in collaboration with NEthing and APWLD, organised a national workshop on �Emerging Development Issues and Feminist Strategies� at Cherrapunji in Meghalaya, a press release received here stated.

The workshop was aimed at sharing a feminist analysis of the current development paradigm and the suggested new system for equality and justice. The sessions included the patriarchal development model of globalisation, militarisation and fundamentalism, the impact of the current system of communities� trade and development and the unsaid in the trade agreements and their impact on women and communities.

The workshop was presided over by Trimita Chakma of the APWLD and Ranja Sengupta of the Third World Network as resource persons. This was followed by an interaction with noted feminist and human rights activist Dr Roshmi Goswami, women rights� activist and social entrepreneur Banamallika Choudhary and Ritupon Gogoi, Executive Director, FST.

The participants included invitees from all States of the North East, the release added.
