SILCHAR, Jan 19 - The All Assam Casual Bill Clerk and Meter Reader Workers� Association employed under Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL), Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited (AEGCL) and Assam Power Generation Corporation Ltd (APGCL) in Silchar sub division under Cachar Electrical Circle are staging a non-cooperation movement since January 2 last.
Workers of Silchar sub division-II at Meherpur have been demanding job regularisation and fixation of minimum salary of Rs 24,000 to the employees.
Ram Kumar Goala, a casual employee at Silchar Sub division-II and a member of the Association, informed that they have been staging protest since January 2 this year pressing for regularising their jobs and fixation of minimum salary at not less than Rs 24,000 per month.
�We have been staging protest claiming our legitimate dues in the interest of the casual bill clerks and meter readers across the state. Along with our state body, we shall also join the movement outside Bijuli Bhawan on January 20,� Goala maintained.
