BAIHATA CHARIALI, Feb 8 - The committee constituted for the issue of Aadhaar cards will launch its work in Kamrup (Rural) district from March 15. In this connection, a meeting was held at the conference hall of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Rural), at Amingaon. It was chaired by Kamal Kumar Baishya, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup district.
Esther Kathar, District Development Commissioner (DDC) and member secretary of the Aadhaar Card Committee, said that the Government had directed completion of the works on Aadhaar cards within December 31, 2018. The DDC also highlighted other guidelines about Aadhaar cards. Though the Government has allotted 66 Aadhaar card centres for the district, the meeting called for increasing the number to 123.
A decision was taken to open Aadhaar card centres at the offices of the Circle Officer, Block Development Officer, Town Committee and Gaon Panchayats. In every Aadhaar card centre, there will be two operators and an administrative assistant. The Deputy Commissioner said that gaon panchayat secretaries would act as administrative assistants.
He also directed the authorities concerned to provide electricity and telephone connection at the centres. Juri Doley, Chief Executive Officer of the district council, Gunajit Rai Choudhury, ADC, Kamrup, and officials of BSNL and APDCL were present in the meeting.
