JORHAT, Sept 14 - The students, teachers and other employees of Jorhat-based Assam Women�s University (AWU) recently celebrated the first foundation day of the university in the presence of State Education Minister, Sarat Borkotoky, mentor Dr KM Bujarbaruah and many other dignitaries.
A press release issued by the university stated that the Education Minister assured them of sanctioning the posts of teachers and other employees required for the university.
The Vice-Chancellor of the Dibrugarh University, Dr Alak Kr Buragohain, delivered the foundation day lecture.
Speaking on the occasion, the Jorhat MP, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, urged the academic community to build up the standards and ethics of an ideal institution.
The university, which began its journey on September 11, 2014, has 326 students and about 38 faculty members in 15 departments.
