IMPHAL, Jan 17 - The 5th edition of India�s only women polo tournament began at the historic Mapal Kangjeibung, the oldest polo ground in the world located in the heart of Imphal today.
Four women polo teams from four countries � USA, Great Britain, Argentina and Egypt along with a host team from Manipur besides Indian Polo Association (IPA) team are taking part in the five-day competition being organised by All Manipur Polo Association (AMPA).
Inaugurating the tournament, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the tournament is a tribute to Lord Marjing and the ancestors who gifted the world such a beautiful game. �It is indeed a matter of pride that Manipur is the birthplace of the Modern Polo,� the Chief Minister said.
