The accused Bhunda Tudo (38), killed his paternal aunt Naha Tudo, when she was having a meal at one of her relatives residence at Birgaon at around 5 pm.

The victim was a resident of Banduguri, which is 1 km away from Birgaon. Soon after the incident, the villagers caught hold of Bhunda and handed him over to police of Sidli PS, which is over 6 km from the spot.

Following a report filed by the victims family at Sidli Police Station on Thursday night, the police registered a case (No.02/2019) under Section 302 (murder) of IPC against Bhunda and the court sent him to judicial custody after he was produced before it today.

The villagers said that Bhundas wife often fell ill and Bhunda suspected it to be an effect of the alleged black magic practised by his aunt on his wife. Thus he attacked her branding her a witch, villagers said quoting Bhunda.

Primarily It is being treated as a murder case and investigation is on to establish other angles, a junior police officer said.
