JORHAT, April 12 - The Jorhat District and Sessions Judge VK Chandak on Wednesday sentenced Momi Bora, a resident of Dahikhur Dolakakharia village on the outskirts here, to imprisonment for life after convicting her of murdering her husband (Deben Bora) on June 26 last year.
Momi reportedly had hit her husband with an iron rod after a quarrel. Her brother-in-law Biren Chandra Bora had lodged the FIR about the incident at the police station. The judge after convicting Momi under Section 302 of the IPC imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on her. The judge further directed the Jorhat District Legal Services Authority to provide appropriate compensation to two minor sons of the deceased Deben and convict Momi after carrying out necessary assessment. Eight witnesses appeared before the court during the trial.
