TURA, April 25 - The Mrigre witch-hunting case took a new turn on Monday after three accused in the murder of five persons in the alleged witch hunting incident last year, kidnapped the daughter of the victims. before being caught near the Ganol bridge by a vigilant police team.
The kidnappers had gone to Waribok village after receiving information of the whereabouts of the victim�s daughter Ringgat T Sangma taking shelter there. They barged into the house and forcefully took Ringgat on the excuse that they wanted to take her to file a case against social activist Jaynie Sangma who had assisted the family to seek justice.
Upon reaching the Ganol bridge, they were apprehended by the West Garo Hills police. One of the three managed to escape but Jackson T Sangma and Ronjon T Sangma were caught by the police.
Five people of a family were killed by villagers in the Mrigre witch-hunting case, which later turned out to be a cold blooded murder.
The five victims who were allegedly killed in front of other family members included school teacher David MT Sangma, his father Hedison B Marak, Hallen T Sangma, his wife Bala T Sangma and their son Washing T Sangma.
Ringgat had earlier sought a re-investigation into the case stating that the earlier police investigation had loopholes. She was just three days back been forced by villagers to speak to Nokma of Mrigre, Lind B Marak to sort matters out.
�The entire family of Ringgat is in danger. They need security so that those responsible for the murders are brought to justice,� said Jaynie N Sangma.
