WII scientists to study mysterious killing of livestock in Manipur

IMPHAL, Dec 2 - Two scientists from Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun have arrived here on Sunday to study the report of mysterious attacks on domestic livestock by �unidentified predators� at various places of Manipur in the recent past.

The team comprising a wildlife biologist and camera trap expert held a meeting with senior officials of Forest department here, official sources said. The team members � Dr Gopi GV and Aisho Sharma � will be visiting the affected places in the State.

Manipur has been witnessing mysterious killings of domestic livestock by unknown animal(s) since the initial report of such attacks came from Churachandpur district bordering Myanmar and Mizoram last month. Later, the incidents of killings were also reported from Imphal West, Imphal East, Kakching and Kangpokpi districts.
