Welfare projects hit by dissident activities

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, July 22 With Himanta Biswa Sarma relinquishing office, five important departments of the State Government have now been forced to run without any Minister in a span of the last one month, a development that has made imminent a reshuffle in the Ministry within a week or so.

The trend has directly hit the cause of the common man, who had voted the politicians to power. It is alleged that dissident activities have stalled the work of a number of welfare projects in a number of departments for the last many months and a number of papers are awaiting clearance from Ministers at different levels.

With the BPF snapping ties with the Congress and its leader Chandan Brahma tendering his resignation as a Minister, departments like tourism and transport were functioning without a head.

Sarma too was holding the office for as many as three important departments including health, education and Assam Accord.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is already holding a number of important departments including home and finance and now he is forced to hold additional charge of the departments of Sarma and Brahma.
