NAGAON, March 23 - Dhing police recovered a huge quantity of illegal weapons from the custody of one Mainul Haque, a resident of Tuktuki Raumari village under Dhing PS. Police recovered the weapons in a operation led by Dhing OC Arpan Saikia with the help of the CRPF. One Japan-made 9 mm pistol, 8 live cartridges and a number of sharp weapons were found. Besides Mainul, police arrested Merazul Islam and Reshidul Haque.

Meanwhile, Nagaon police based on a tip-off began a 24-hour operation and nabbed Munna Aziz of Morigaon district and Abdul Rouf of Hojai district from their rented house at Dhing Gate area. Police recovered 9 monitors, 5 CPUs, 1 UPS, a keyboard and other accessories from their rented accommodation.

After rigorous interrogation of the arrested duo, police moved to Darrang and Udalguri districts. After successful search operation, the police recovered 5 monitors, 9 CPUs, 2 UPS, 2 generators and other accessories from Kharupetia, Dhula, Bhakatpara, Bechimari, Mangaldai and Balichanda. Three other persons, namely, Noor Ali, Rezaul Islam and Amser Ali were also apprehended by the police. These items might have been stolen from different educational institutions of Nagaon district.

A few days back, the Nagaon police with the help of Kampur police apprehended 8 culprits involved in raping a woman in front of her husband.

It was alleged that generally drug peddlers have strong political linkage and that is why the police faces difficulties to keep them behind bars. But Nagaon Superintendent of Police Sankarbrata Raimedhi was tough against the drug mafia. Within a short time, the police under his leadership, have recovered a large quantity of drugs and arrested a number of persons involved in drug business.
