WB to face Meghalaya in AG football final

GUWAHATI, Dec 5 - West Bengal will take on Meghalaya in the final of the IA&AD East Zone Football Tournament.

In two semifinals played today at the SAI ground here, Meghalaya outplayed Odisha 6-1 while West Bengal thrashed Jharkhand 3-0.

For Meghalaya, Ashok Chetri (29th minute), Kithoulam Pale (34th, 37th, 71st minute), Freddy Karipran (39th minute) and Korionald Dynepoe (80+2) were the goal scorers while Bhabani Prasad (6th minute) was the lone scorer for Odisha. Kithoulam Pale was adjudged player of the match.

For Bengal, GS Sabuth netted two in the 24th and 39th minute respectively while Bikash Rana added one in the 50th minute. Pradeep Mohan Raj of West Bengal received the player of the match award.

The final match will kick-off at 5.00 pm under floodlights at SAI Complex tomorrow. Former international footballer Gilbertson Sangma will attend the closing ceremony as guest of honour.
