By Correspondent

BARPETA, July 24 - The rise of water level of all the rivers flowing through Barpeta due to heavy rain for the last few days has threatened to again revive the spectre of floods which had just begun to improve from yesterday.

Moreover, the Bhutan-based Druk Green Power Corporation Limited has said that it will release water from its reservoirs in Kuricchu river dam tomorrow. This will lead to rise in the water level of rivers like Beki, Manas and Pahumara which in turn will wreak havoc in Baksa and Barpeta districts.

A review meeting held in the conference room of the DCs office here discussed the probable situation to arise following the notice. The DC, Munindra Sarma directed the circle officers to adopt all precautionary measures to save lives and property in view of the impending danger.
