Warmth at alma mater brings tears to Miss India

GUWAHATI, April 19 - It was a highly emotional and euphoric moment for the students, teachers and authorities of Maria�s Public School here today as their very own Priyadarshini Chatterjee, the Miss India World 2016 paid a visit to her alma mater.

The crowned beauty, who has made the entire North East proud with her achievement, acknowledged the contribution of her teachers and interacted with her juniors at the school. Priyadarshini was accorded a grand felicitation by the school authorities. The huge applause that welcomed her brought back memories and tears into the eyes of the reigning beauty.

�School was always home for me. The care and guidance given by the teachers has made me steadfast in my goals and I have made friends who will stand by me through thick and thin,� said the Miss India, adding that it was a nostalgic moment for her to be at school.

Founder and managing trustee of the school Nellie Ahmed Tanweer expressed great pleasure and pride at the accomplishment of her former student and congratulated her on behalf of the school. She also wished and blessed her for the forthcoming Miss World contest and urged her to face the challenges ahead with confidence and conviction.

Alpana Khound Phukan, the Principal of the school lauded Priyadarshini for bringing glory not only for the school, but for the entire region.

It needs to be mentioned that Priyadarshini is the first girl from the region to win the coveted title. She called upon her former classmates to be focused and aim for greater heights.

The teachers of Maria�s also recalled how their former student gradually transformed from a shy girl to a confident and blooming beauty. Priyadarshini has been participating in fashion shows since her school days and started her career in modelling as a freelancer. However, everyone agreed that this young beauty with brains has always been humble and down to earth.
