Viral fever spreading in Baihata Chariali

BAIHATA CHARIALI, July 23 - Many people have been affected by viral fever and mumps which have spread throughout the entire area in the last one month. Diseases like excessive fever, vomiting, cold and cough and mumps have assumed alarming proportions in many parts of the area. Though after the second week of June, a number of people were affected by fever, but it was seen that later cough, cold and vomiting also affected them.

On the other hand, mumps along with fever has been affecting the people of the area during these days right from infants to adults and it is also spreading to new areas every day. Though June and July are known as malaria months, but no malaria cases have been reported from the area but viral fever with joint pain, headache, excessive sweating, weakness and dizziness have hit the normal daily life of the people of the greater area. Though almost all villages in the area have been affected by fever, those in Radhakuchi, Karara, Nagaon, Kshudrapalaha, and Jatiyabhangra villages, a number of patients with mumps have been reported. Health Centre sources said that at present fever cases have been rising due to the change in the hot weather and after one month, the statistics of the patients affected by fever will automatically be reduced.

The public of the area has requested the authorities concerned to carry out DDT spraying to reduce the menace of mosquitoes and organise awareness meetings in the villages of the area so that people could be aware about other fevers like JE, dengue etc., besides viral fever.
