DIPHU June 24 - A group of miscreants from Nagaland border attacked Karbi Anglong Modal village situated in Lahorijan locality yesterday at around 12.30 pm. In all, 8 houses were torched. The area is close to Lahorijan Border Post of Assam Police.
The miscreants reportedly came in a police jeep. However, the villagers could detain a person named Nangshimar Longkumar of Burma Camp, Dimapur, who was later handed over to Dillai police and a case No. 12/17 U/S 447/448/295(A) 435/436/506) of IPC was registered.
Longkumar mentioned that Sasi Jamir and TN Manen of Dimapur instigated him to commit the crime. He also admitted that he had torched the same village twice before.
Domestic property worth approximately Rs 10 lakh was damaged in yesterday�s arson, as per official sources. The village is inhabited by Karbi, Naga and Bodo tribes.
