NAGAON, April 22 - Responding to allegations raised by senior Congress leader Anil Raja, the Chief Ministers Vigilance and Anti-corruption Department has started ground-level inquiry about the properties of former minister Rockybul Hussain. An eight-member police team, headed by SP Pranabjyoti Goswami arrived at Nagaon on April 19. The team met the Deputy Commissioner and the SP of Nagaon and later called on some lat mandals of Nagaon Revenue Circle to the circuit house to take stock of the landed properties in the name of former minister Hussain and his close relatives.

Later, the team visited Amin Patty, Dacca Patty, Christian Patty, Kolong Restaurant, business establishments near the Joyshree Cinema Hall and spoke to people associated with those properties. The vigilance team also visited Hussains home constituency Samaguri, Amoni and other places.

The inquiry team called upon the chairman of the Nagaon Municipal Board to know about the license issued to different business establishments of the relatives and close associates of the former minister.

Anil Raja had alleged that Rockybul has land and other businesses in Guwahati, Gurgaon and even in Dubai.

However, reacting to this inquiry Rockybul Hussain said that it was a conspiracy against him. I am not afraid of anything, he said. He denied the allegations totally.

Without mentioning the names of any person, Rockybul Hussain demanded inquiry of properties acquired in Khanapara, Lakhra, GS Road etc., by a political leader. Hussain further said that the person who had lodged complaints against me has a number of complaints against himself also.

However, the vigilance team did not divulge any details to the media.
