GUWAHATI, Oct 20 - On the opening day of the four-day Group B Ranji Trophy match at the St Xavier�s College Ground, Thumba, Mumbai today, opting to bat first Vidarbha were 254 for three against Assam.
On a batting track, the Vidarbha batsmen took no time to settle down and added 68 runs for the opening wicket partnership.
Although AD Shanware was out for a duck, all other batsmen contributed handsomely and stood in a comfortable position at the end of the day. Opener Sanjay Ramaswamy (83 off 196 balls, 10x4), Ganesh Satish (93 batting off 184 balls, 7x4, 1x6) were their leading scorers while skipper Faiz Fazal added 44. Ravi Jangid accompanying Satish with 31.
For Assam spinner Sarupam Purkayastha took all the three wickets fell today.
