Veterans� Football from October 3

GUWAHATI, Sept 11 - Like the previous year the United Brothers Club (UBC) is organising the UBC Challenge Veteran Football Championship at the Judges� Field on October 3 and 4. Altogether 8 teams will take part in the two-day meet. The teams are United Brothers Club, ASEB FC, Duliajan Veteran FC, Kokrajhar Veteran FC, Silchar Veteran FC, Dakshin Bang FC, Khanapara FC and defending champion Gauhati Town Club .

In a press meet held at Guwahati Press Club, UBC president Pronoy Bordoloi expressed the possibility of Union Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal�s presence in the inaugural function on October 3 at 3pm. He further said that a number of veteran sports persons as well as sports organizers would be felicitated there.

Replying to a questing, Bordoloi said, � The minimum age for the championship is restricted to 40. We will verify the age proof certificate like the previous year.� He is optimistic about the tournament�s success which will bring a remarkable motivation in the field of veteran football in the State.

The champion team will be awarded Rs 50,000 along with trophy whereas the runner up will get Rs 30,000. The morning session will start at 7am and afternoon session at 2pm of the league basis tournament. The secretary of UBC Dhiraj Dutta and treasurer Rituraj Bhagoboti were also present at the press meet.
