SIVASAGAR, March 1 - Adviser of the All Assam Press Correspondents� Union (AAPCU) and Moran Correspondent of Dainik Janambhumi, besides a leading social worker of Sivasagar district, Sovit Kumar Chetri was accorded a warm felicitation by several organisations on being awarded the Parag Kumar Das Journalism Award 2017 by Satirtha Mancha.

Those who felicitated him include the Moran unit of All Assam Press Correspondents� Union, AJYCP, Moran Sub-Division Journalists� Association, Sivasagar District Journalists� Association, Moran Press Club, Moran Town Club, Moran Sahitya Sabha, Arunudoi Sambad, All Assam Sahu Baishya Sanmilan, noted film personality Bishnu Kharghariya, and artiste Anuj Duwora, besides many other leading socio-cultural organisations.

Sovit Kumar Cherti was felicitated with traditional gamosas and bouquets by Basha Bora and Amit Chowdhury of AAPCU�s Moran unit, Pallav Sarma of AJYCP, Prakash Kurmi and Sanjay Nag of Moran Press Club and others. Chetri has been serving as a scribe since the last three decades and is known for his honesty and dedication towards journalism.

It may perhaps not be out of place to mention here that Satirtha Mancha is a forum floated by the friends and admirers of radical journalist and human right activist Parag Kumar Das, who was shot dead by an unidentified gunman in broad daylight at Rajgarh Road in Guwahati city on May 17,1996.
