NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Jan 30 - Police in North Lakhimpur seized a vehicle used by a gang of car lifters. Police led by ASI Rajib Das of Khelmati Town Outpost while conducting night patrolling on Wednesday chased the vehicle, a Bolero car, which finally halted near North Lakhimpur Railway Station but the persons inside the car fled before police could reach them.
The vehicle bearing registration No. AS-07A-8559 was seized by police along with some gadgets used by car lifters. The recovered items included a master key, 14 ring wrench, 2 wheel wrench, 3 wheel kit wrench, 16 spanner wrench, cutter pliers and scissors, three brake shoe iron plate, 3 L wrench, two fake registration certificates, etc. The vehicle is registered in the name of Nazrul Hussain of Narayanpur, Lakhimpur.
There was another attempt to lift a Bolero from a residence in North Lakhimpur on January 24 by using similar gadgets. Though the car lifters succeeded in starting the car, they failed to open the entrance gate. Police is investigating both the cases.
