VCAA Foundation Day

GUWAHATI, Oct 10 - The Veteran Cricket Association of Assam (VCAA) celebrated its 17th Foundation Day in a befitting manner today. The veteran cricketers played a friendly match at the Nehru Stadium here where former leading Ranji trophy players took part.

In the afternoon in a function VCAA honoured cricketers and organisers for their contributions towards to the game in the State. Former Assam Cricket Association secretary Abdul Motin was honoured with the Nurul Amin Trophy as the best organiser while Ranji player Prabir Hazarika received the life time achievement award. The veteran cricketers also felicitated the cricketers for their laudable performances in the BCCI tournaments last year.

Sarupam Purkayastha received the best Ranji cricketer award while Rajjak Uddin Ahmed was given the best cricketer award in the U-19 category. Riyan Parag and Jitumoni Kalita got the best cricketer awards in the U-16 group while Sapna Choudhury and Monikha Das were picked for the best girls U-19 and women cricketer�s award respectively.

Former Indian cricketer and MP Kirti Azad was present as the chief guest in the function.
