Vast areas under Chapar and Golokganj circles inundated

GAURIPUR, June 28 - The Champabati river flowing through Bahalpur and Chapar areas has inundated vast areas in Chapar circle.

The affected villages are Geravita, Noonmati, Hatipota, Gaurangtari, Dhirer Char, Tarangapur, Char Jhunimari, Patadhowapar, Phuljharpara, Jalmali, Chatiantal, Areyarjhar Part-II, etc.

Meanwhile, flood waters submerged the entire paddy and jute fields of the areas and the standing chilli cultivation too was totally damaged.

Ashok Kumar Singhi, MLA of Bilasipara East Constituency visited the flood-affected areas with Mridul Yadav, Civil SDO of Bilasipara, Nabajyoti Das, Circle Officer of Chapar and distributed drinking water and packets of biscuits yesterday. He also visited the shelter camps located at Jubak Samiti and Bholanath LP School today along with Circle Officer Kartik Kalita and Dwipesh Das, former chairman of Bilasipara Town Committee and distributed relief material among the inmates of the camps.

Vast areas under Golokganj circle were also seriously affected by the flood waters of Gangadhar.

Meanwhile, a ring bundh from Gaikhowa to Nalia was washed away, affecting villages like Gaikhowa, Nalia, Salamdanga, Berbhangi, Ruarkuti etc. It goes without saying that the entire population of the area was reeling under flood waters.
