Vast areas submerged by Morapagladia

BARAMA, July 22 � The Morapagaladia river was over flooded following the heavy downpour since Saturday night and submerged fresh areas of human habitation and cropland in greater Bakuajari Gobaradal area under Tihu Revenue circle in Nalbari district .

According to reports, the speedy current of flooded water came through breached dyke of the Morapagaladia river at Bahmura village in Pub � Nambarbhag mouza and engulfed fresh area in low-lying and riverine areas. The flooded water swallowed vast croplands causing great damage to newly grown paddy seedlings. Lately, the flooded water of Morapagaladia river coming through the breached embankment at Bahmura, Charanpara near Barama submerged many lowlying areas of many villages � Barjar, Kalzar, Charanpara, Gobaradal, Sathikuchi, Bakuajari, Sialmari, Bali etc.

The river is flowing above the danger level following incessant rains. It is worth mentioning that flood of Morapagaladia river damaged the Tihu� Akhara PWD road washing away the culvert of the road as a result of which communication was disrupted causing immense trouble to the commuters. Maneswar Brahma, the MLA of Barama visited the flood-hit area of greater Nambarbhag mouza and took stock of the situation.
