Varsity teacher faces sexual abuse charge

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, Aug 27 The Tripura University Executive Council has extended the probation period of Assistant Professor Sunil Koloi, who is facing sexual abuse charges by students of Journalism and Mass Communication.

The move is apparently initiated after Vice Chancellor Aurnodoy Saha received a number of sexual abuse complaints from the students of the Journalism and Mass Communication department over the past few months. It has been alleged that at least three girls of the department had to leave their course mid-way because of harassment by Koloi.

It may be noted that police had already submitted charge sheet against Koloi in connection with a sexual abuse case filed by a tribal girl. Now, the trial is expected to begin very shortly.

In the FIR filed against Koloi, the girl had alleged that Koloi had sexually abused her for one year by giving assurance of marriage. But he had tied the knot with another Asst. Professor of the Varsity.
