DOOMDOOMA, Dec 28 - The Doomdooma Mandal Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) celebrated the 91st birthday of the former Prime Minister of India, Bharat Ratna Atal Behari Vajpayee at the Doomdooma Town field on Friday. The day�s programme began with the hoisting of party�s flag by the president of BJYM Doomdooma Mandal Committee Ravi Dubey. The chairman of Doomdooma Town Committee Dulu Arandhara distributed fruits among the paitents of Doomdooma FRU hospital. Veteran party activist Chiranjilal Goyal cut the birthday cake. The volleyball competition held on this occasion was inaugurated by Rajita Moran, the wife of local MLA Dilip Moran.
Later, a meeting was held which was addressed by local MLA Dilip Moran, BJP Tinsukia district president Bhaben Sharma, district Mahila Morcha president Anindita Goswami and several other party leaders. The speakers recalled the contributions of Vajpayee in the nation-building process. Blankets were distributed in this meeting among 1000 BPL families of Doomdooma LAC area from MLA�s local area development fund. The prizes of the drawing competition were also distributed among the winners.
Foundation day: The 23rd foundation day of Doomdooma Branch Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samity (SALSS) was observed on Friday on its office premises. A special programme was held on this occasion where several competitions were held among the SALSS members. Several cultural items were also presented by the members. A few members of the branch were felicitated for their achievements in different fields. Mriganka Borah and Kakoli Bannyya Baruah were also felicitated in this meeting for qualifying in the APSC examination.
