ITANAGAR, Aug 23 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (retd) joined the people of the State in paying rich tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre here this evening.
Earlier, the urn containing the ashes (asthi) of Vajpayee was brought to Itanagar in a cavalcade from the Naharlagun helipad, where it was received by State BJP president Tapir Gao.
Remembering the former Prime Minister, the Governor said, �Atalji was one of the most prominent personalities of the century, a great politician, an eminent statesman, able administrator, development-oriented leader and a memorable poet. He was a strong advocate of humanism. His demise is an irreparable loss to India.�
The Governor called upon the people of the State to dedicate themselves to peace and development of the State as a befitting tribute to the departed leader.
The asthi of the former Prime Minister will be immersed in the Parasuram Kund in Lohit river tomorrow.
